Did You Just Say One Circular Needle?

Time for a little shameless self-promotion, everyone! Next month I’ll be teaching a sock-knitting class at knit-one-one in Emeryville. I’ll be showing everyone how to knit a sock on one circular needle using the magic loop method. Once you’ve tried it, you can never go back!

Interested? You can register here. Not only will you be taking a really cool class, you’ll be supporting my friend Sile’s exciting new business venture. And you’ll end up with a great pair of socks.

Hey, for those of us that would TOTALLY sign up for the class if we lived within 100 miles of Emeryville…..any chance of learning that awesomeness online?

  • Sean says:

Sure wish I could take your class! When I’m out there for my visit, I would love a demo of Magic Loop. I understand it in theory, but I know that if I tried the method on my own, I would end up hurting myself or others.

I wish I could get a sock knitting class here, I keep fouling the kitchener stitch.

Cool! I didn’t know there was another LYS a stones throw from me 🙂

  • aija says:

Oops, not a lys per se, eh? Still cool, thanks for the link!

I just learned the magic loop method from my LYS and I am in love! I highly recommend learnning it for those that love to make socks. Now to avoid SSS!

I tried Magic Loop a few “in the round” projects back and now if I have to buy a needle, I only buy a circular in the longest length possible so that I can magic loop absolutely all my small (and not so) diameter projects. No confusion over which needle is next, no dropped needles, no tangle of cables wagging everywhere and oh-so-portable! Not to mention the fact that I’ve been able to prune my needle set down to one or two of each size. My knitting life just got so much easier once magic loop appeared.

I agree with you about using one circular needle. I like dpns but I once I tried using the magic loop I was hooked. Socks are my portable project and I do not have to worry about losing a needle or having my yarn get messy. The class sounds like it will be really cool. (Found your site through Knitty – I am knitting Avast for my teenage son).

I wish that I was in your area so that I can take that class. I’ve heard that it’s better than using dpns.
